Kassia Academy is an alternative provision who aim to embrace individual learner differences and build on their strengths. All staff have completed the ‘Focus on SEND’ training with Nasen and participate in a rigorous CPD programme to ensure a fully inclusive and trauma informed environment.
All children are valued equally and from the point of referral, we focus on the special educational needs of the learner with an aim to provide the most effective and appropriate educational intervention.
We aim to challenge the children academically, whilst supporting their social emotional and mental health needs. We create flexible, individualised programmes of support which include pastoral, specialised and academic interventions alongside the national curriculum. We work closely with external agencies including Speech and Language, CAMHs and the Educational Psychology Service to ensure that these interventions are learner centred, personalised programmes that are reviewed and monitored regularly and adapted as needs change.
Social skills and nurture groups are a fundamental part of our offer which allows leaners to develop vital independent life skills to support and guide them through some difficult situations building confidence, self-esteem and security.
As support for our children is highly personalised and adaptable and we seek to support our learners in reaching their full potential, it is often better to discuss your child’s needs individually so please do not hesitate to contact the school SENDCO, Jo Taylor using the main school number.
