Amanda Nicholson Chief Executive Officer of the King Academy Trust has been awarded an OBE for her services to Education.

Amanda, from Warrington said she was motivated to train as a teacher for children with disabilities after her own experience as a teenager. Due to cataracts, she became blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other until new lens implants restored her sight. In her 27-year career she has supported vulnerable children across Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Warrington.

“I was incredibly proud to receive the OBE in the Queen’s 2022 new year’s honours list and to attend Buckingham Palace to receive it from Princess Anne earlier this month,” said Amanda.

Councillor Jim Cammell, lead member for children’s and young people’s services for Salford City Council said: “Amanda’s life-long dedication to ensuring children and young people achieve their full potential has been recognised and rewarded with this honour.”
